Ellen O'Neill lives in Lexington, MA and paints from her family's cabin in Bridgton, Maine. A retired teacher and coach, she enjoys painting en plein air, the New England landscape and still life in oil and pastels. She holds a B. S. degree in Education and a M. Ed. in Counseling. She has studied art at Massachusetts College of Art, the Eliot School, and under Maine artists Barbara Traficonte and Murad Sayen, as well as, Catherine Zimmerman and Diane Levine in the Boston area.
"I love to paint because it offers to me an opportunity to share with others the beauty and drama of life, as I see it, around me. It is the play of light on a subject that compels me to paint it. The state of Maine and all of New England are my principal areas of interest whether it be the inland lakes and mountains, farmlands, the coast, or its people. Retired, after a 38 year teaching career, I finally have the time to pursue and develop my lifelong interest in painting."
